what is reflexology?
Reflexology, sometimes called zone therapy, is based on the ancient theory that each body organ corresponds to a reflex point in the cutaneous system (the skin). A pressure point impulse helps release blockages and re-establishes energy flow to improve circulation.
Reflexologists believe reflexology stimulates specific reflex points from head to toe to promote balance and normalization of the body naturally. It also believed to improve circulation and normalization of oxygen and nutrients to the cells. All the organs of the body seem to have related reflex points in the feet and hands.

how reflexology works
The concept of Reflexology presumes the exsistence of a map of the body that can be found in the feet, where every organ is reflected in a specific area.
The reflex arch involves different structures:
- receptors or nerve endings
- receptors or sensory nervers
- spinal cord-spinothalamic tract
- retibular formation
- thalamus, hypothalamus, cerebral cortex
- spinal cord-reticulum-spinalfasciculi
- vegetative nervous system
When reflexologist Doina explores a foot, she can feel a swollen part that can be named a "deposit". These deposits are located in the hypodermis where the subcutaneous cellular tissue is located (that reflect the imbalance of the organ represented in that area).
